Much love,

Neil’s here…in my party…

He was wearing a white polo and a black vest with a bow tie. It didn’t take me long to realize, he was acting as a waiter.

He was staring back at me, holding his tray up, smiling like I was the only person in the room.

My heart leaped and sank alternately, remembering the events that transpired recently but at the same time, remembering the happy moments we’ve had, the warmth of his hugs and the softness of his lips.

I started tearing up, I felt heat in the corner of my eyes. I tried to stop myself from crying because it was almost my turn to speak.

“Here to say a few words please welcome again, my daughter, Princess Victoria!” And the crowd greeted me with a warm round of applause.

“G-g-good evening everyone.” I stuttered, hoping no one noticed. I was nervous not only because I was speaking in front of important people, but because his face was the only face I saw clearly in the crowd. He was giving me another encouraging smile, the kind that made my heart melt.

“I would like to thank everyone for coming to my special day. My family, my friends, and every single one of you who made my life meaningful. You know, coming into this party, I didn’t really want to assume my title, but seeing all of you here, giving me encouragement, I think I would make a great Princess, in the sense that I’ll do everything I can in my power to help those people who are in need.” I continued on. I looked at him once again, it was then that I realized that the only thing that kept me going the past few days amidst my chaotic life was him, and that smile.

“Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the night. Good evening once again and,” I looked directly at him, “Thank you.”

He mouthed, “I’m sorry.”

And once again, applause filled the room.

It was time to eat and it felt weird seeing Neil serve water or any type of appetizer to my guests. I felt bad seeing him get treated poorly by my elitist relatives and guests.

“Water, princess?” He asked me.

I looked at him and nodded. He leaned over and poured water in my glass with a smirk on his face. I wanted to hug him, or kiss him at that moment but I had to stop myself. This was a private, royal event and one wrong move to blow his cover might get him arrested.

“Hey, waiter! I need water here!” David, my supposed “gentleman” of an ex shouted at him from the next table.

“Right away, sir.” He responded.

“You do not call me sir, you call me a lord stupid moron. Haha, get a load of this idiot huh?” He told his friends.

I wanted to punch David right smack on his nose right then and there but I saw Neil’s sly expression as he was pouring the water. I stopped and waited for him to make a move.

He poured the whole pitcher on his pants “accidentally” and it sent the whole table that he was sitting in laughing and I as well started to laugh. “Sorry, my lord. It was an accident.” Neil spoke, smiling his bad boy smile.

“How. Dare. You!” He stood up shouting and attracted the attention of everyone.

I stood up and made my way to their table. “What seems to be the problem? David, did you piss yourself again?” I asked, laughing. Everyone laughed with me.

“Victoria! This is the work of your idiotic waiter! Tell him to leave right now!” He demanded.

“I’m sorry Princess, it was an accident I swear.” Neil smiled at me mischievously.

“No worries, Nei—I mean, guy I don’t know. You are dismissed. Go back to work.” I said, trying to stop myself from laughing. Neil nodded and went back to the tent where the waiters were staying “And David, you address me as Princess not Victoria.” I rolled my eyes at him and everyone chuckled a bit once again.

—

After I finished my meal, I went to back to my tent to change into my other dress. It was a good thing I haven’t undressed anything yet because a bodyguard of mine spoke from outside the tent.

“Princess, a waiter here said you requested for hot choco? Shall I bring him in?”

I bit my lip, I knew who it was.

“Okay Julian let him in please.”

When he got inside the tent, he stood in front of me, just smiling like an idiot for a while. But then, his expression changed and he knelt on the floor.

“Princess, will you forgive this sorry man for his mistake? This man knows he did you wrong, and he is very sorry about it, and though this man is just a commoner, there is nothing more he would wish for than to be with you, your grace.”

I laughed a bit, somehow his old century style of speaking suited his accent perfectly.

“Rise, commoner.” I joked and he stood up. I walked closer to him and he held my hand, pulling me even more closer for a hug.

“Victoria, I’m sorry. Will you forgive me? I was petrified, you know? I was scared that you might realize when you got back to your life that I am nothing compared to you. I don’t have a title, nor do I earn billions every year. I was scared you might realize soon that we are worlds apart. When you left me at the stadium I realized, my heart was not with me anymore. It is yours, all yours and I hope you can find it in your heart to trust me again.” He finished, tightening his hug around me even more.

Tears started streaming down my eyes, “You are everything to me, Neil, You alone keep me sane throughout this wretched experience. I don’t give a damn, if you don’t have a title nor the fact that you’re not a billionaire. Because no one can ever compare to that feeling you give me just by simply being in my presence.”

I cupped his face using both my hands and stared at those beautiful brown eyes.

“I love, you, Victoria, and I will do anything to be with you all the time.”

I never realized how his words can move so much, but I was able to grasp that idea when he said those three words.

“I love you too, Neil.” I replied, smiling back at him.

He leaned in for a kiss but I had to stop him, he was staying in my tent for a long time and people might suspect.

I pressed my finger on his lips just in time before it reached mine. “Sorry, love. But you’ve been here quite long, someone might suspect. I’m sorry, I don’t want you to get arrested.”

He scratched his head in disappointment. “But I’ll see you after this party, right?”

I nodded and gave him a peck. “Now go, handsome waiter of mine, and bring this empty now-cold hot chocolate mug with you. If anyone asks why you took long tell them you waited for me to finish it.”

“But it’s not empty, Victoria.” He asked looking down at the mug.

I grabbed the mug from him and chugged it down. “Now it is.” We laughed and he exited the tent, not before blowing a kiss my way of course.
